DAO Plus contains a special blend of the digestive enzyme Diamine Oxidase (DAO) (30,000 HDU) and the antioxidants vitamin C (20 mg) and Quercetin (38 mg). The DAO enzyme helps in the digestion of histamine from food. Vitamin C and Quercetin are antioxidants that provide additional support, with vitamin C helping to support the immune system.

DAO Plus capsule
Each capsule contains four small tablets: the white/beige tablets contain the DAO enzyme and are coated with a stomach acid-resistant layer. The brown tablet contains vitamin C, and the green tablet contains Quercetin. For those with difficulty swallowing, the capsule can be opened, and the tablets can be taken separately, without chewing. DAO Plus comes with a small user-friendly container and is suitable for children aged 4 and up.

Histamine
Histamine is a biogenic amine (natural protein) involved in various processes in the body. Our body produces histamine naturally and it is also found in many plant and animal based products,such as; sauerkraut, dried fruit, yogurt, pork, aged meats like salami, aged cheese, alcohol; particularly red wine and canned foods.

Histamine is naturally present in many plant and animal based products. In addition to the histamine produced by our body, it also enters the body through our diet. Excess histamine is broken down in the body. The digestive enzyme Diamine Oxidase (DAO) helps in the effective digestion of histamine (rendering it inactive) in the small intestine, preventing it from entering the bloodstream.

Usage: Take the capsule immediately before meals. If you have trouble swallowing the capsule, you can twist it open and swallow the tablets separately. We do not recommend chewing the tablets.

Recommended Dosage: Take 1 capsule at a time.

Maximum Daily Dose: Do not exceed 3 capsules per day.

When using DAO, it is important to first lower the histamine level. We recommend following a low-histamine diet (preferably under the supervision of a dietitian), in combination with taking DAO three times a day (at breakfast, lunch, and dinner). After 2 to 4 weeks, histamine levels should be reduced. After that, you can slowly start reintroducing histamine into your diet and/or reducing the DAO supplement, depending on your personal situation.

In addition to diet, factors such as stress, certain medications, alcohol, hormonal fluctuations, and sleep can also promote the release of histamine.
